The Breath of God – A Word for 2025 on Humility and His Light

The Breath of God – A Word for 2025 on Humility and His Light

Dear Beloved,

As we step into 2025, I feel compelled to share a word the Lord gave me—one that I believe is foundational for the coming year. The Lord spoke to me about The Breath of God Over the Waters, His Light in the Darkness, and the Fire That Brings Humility.

In the early hours of New Year’s Eve, the Lord revealed a vision of a dark, glassy sea—still and peaceful, yet surrounded by deep darkness. A single light from a boat cast its beam over the waters, illuminating the path ahead. This light was His presence, guiding forward with clarity and peace.

The Lord made it clear that while His light leads the way, pride, self-reliance, and the need for control can stir the waters and darken the voyage.Humility is the foundation for the work He entrusts to me—and to all of us—in this season. Yet, I know this kind of humility is not something I can achieve on my own. Without the Holy Spirit's constant guidance, I drift.

A Physical Encounter with the Lord

That same morning, the Lord led me into a physical encounter to solidify this truth. I felt a pull to go under the bathwater, and as I responded to that prompting, I allowed myself to stay beneath the surface.

As the water rose over my nose and mouth, I held my breath, envisioning the weight of pride and self-reliance. Within moments, the burning in my lungs intensified. I came up quickly because I didn’t like the sensation. I didn’t want to stay beneath the water long—it was uncomfortable, and everything in me wanted relief.

That moment became an altar for me—a place of surrender and remembrance.

The Lord revealed the correlation to pride.

Pride is like staying under the water. It feels manageable at first, but as it lingers, it begins to choke out the breath of God in our lives. I realized how easily I fall into self-reliance, even when my heart desires to surrender. This isn’t a lesson I have mastered—it's one I return to often.

The Lord impressed upon me that:

  • Pride stirs the waters, suffocating His presence.

  • Humility allows His breath to flow freely, keeping us above the waters and in His light.

Learning Through Job’s Journey

As I reflected on this, the Lord reminded me of Job.

“The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” – Job 33:4

Job’s story is one of deep suffering, being stripped of everything—family, wealth, health—yet God’s hand was in all of it. It was not punishment but refinement, revealing that even in the most painful trials, God is present, breathing life into broken places.

Job’s journey mirrors the way pride and self-reliance must be stripped away in our own lives. He wrestled, questioned, and mourned deeply, but in the end, Job encountered God in a more intimate way than ever before.

“My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.” – Job 42:5

When Job finally humbled himself before the Lord, recognizing God’s sovereignty and his own limitations, restoration followed. But the heart of Job’s story isn’t about getting everything back—it’s about the transformation that took place within him.

**God is in the stripping away just as much as He is in the rebuilding—**because it is in the stripping that He prepares to rebuild according to His design, establishing what He desires in our lives. The breaking isn’t random or without purpose; it’s a clearing of the old so that what He establishes cannot be shaken.

Even Now – Examining My Own Heart

Even as I write this message to you now, I had to stop and ask the Lord—Is there pride in sharing this? My flesh pulls at me to make something “good,” to try and craft something meaningful, but without knowing if He wants me to share it, even that can become sin.

I can’t walk this path of becoming more like Christ without His Spirit leading me each step of the way. When I try to take control, I feel the weight of that suffocating pride pressing in again.

Lately, I’ve felt this strong, newfound interest in wanting to learn to ride a horse. I can’t explain why, but I believe the Lord is stirring something deeper through it. As I reflect, I realize that I’ve often felt like the horse the Lord is bridling—bringing me to a place of humility, where I must yield to His reins and direction.

The image of being led, trained, and shaped by His hand feels connected to this season. There’s something about trusting Him fully, like a horse trusts its rider, that resonates with me right now.

No Condemnation – We Walk from Glory to Glory

I want to be sensitive and say this in no way is to condemn anyone in their walk with Christ. We are all at various stages in our journey with the Lord, and He takes us from glory to glory as we grow in Him.

“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” – 2 Corinthians 3:18

We are not alone in this journey. The Body of Christ is one unit—brothers and sisters, children of God—called to encourage and build one another up in the faith. Now more than ever, we need to strengthen each other and walk in unity, knowing that each part of the Body plays a role in fulfilling His will.

Why This Matters for 2025

The Lord revealed that in this season, His breath and light will guide those who remain humble and dependent on Him. His healing power flows through humility, and the fire of His Spirit will consume what is not surrendered. I know how difficult that surrender can be, and it is something I continually return to.

As we enter this year, I feel a deep call to encourage others:

  • Examine your heart.

  • Lay down pride and control.

  • Invite His breath to fill you anew.

I pray this word encourages you as we step into 2025. Walking humbly, fully reliant on the breath and light of God, is not something I can do on my own. This journey of keeping my lamp full of oil and continually seeking His presence is one I can only walk by surrendering daily.

If this message spoke to your heart, I invite you to share it with a friend who may also need encouragement in their walk.

Amy
